‘I came for the meditations, and stayed for the teachings,’ said one Monday night teacher when she first came to Tara Institute, a Buddhist centre in the Tibetan tradition in Melbourne, Australia. This book is the fourth in a collection of teachings, meditations and Q&As that have been curated from the weekly Monday night ‘Introduction to Buddhist Philosophy and Meditation’ program at Tara Institute. Meditation is important, but we need something to meditate on. The talks presented here cover the main Buddhist topics upon which the meditations are based. The guided meditations include breathing meditations, which calm the mind and ready it for knowledge and deeper meditations; and analytic meditations, which help deepen our understanding of a topic.
